Announcing the discount rates, a release issued by the collectorate here stated that while farsan will be available at all shops in the city at Rs 56 per kg, farsan, nan khatai and biscuits prepared in bakeries across the city will be sold at Rs 50 per kg.

Shah, in the statement, has urged the people to enjoy the occasion in the right spirit and take full advantage of the discounts that have been announced in view of the celebrations. He also appealed to readymade cloth store-owners to provide discounts on their goods to mark the occasion.

While all government and civic body buildings will be decorated with lights on these two days, Shah has also urged the people to celebrate Republic Day by lighting their respective buildings.

Republic Day parades have been organised by the collectorate along with the city and district police on January 26. The collector said that armed and non-armed constables will carry out a parade rehearsal on January 25. He has asked all government officials of the departments under the district administration to remain present for the functions organised. A number of officials including the police remained present for the meeting, the release added.
