US will try to restrain nuke proliferation: Clinton
President Bill Clinton has said the United States would step up its efforts to ``restrain'' India and Pakistan from expanding their nuclear weapon and missile programmes and asked the Senate to ratify the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT).

Yeltsin recovering, no surgery needed
Tests on Wednesday showed Russian President Boris Yeltsin was recovering from his stomach ulcer and would not need surgery, Itar-Tass news agency quoted Yeltsin's spokesman as saying.
