Builder escapes extortion bid

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA  
MUMBAI, JANUARY 24: An unsuccessful attempt was made by a gang of extortionists to abduct a Dahanu-based builder. In a memorandum to the Director General of Police Arvind Inamdar and Home Minister Gopinath Munde, builder Satyendra Thakur who managed to escape the criminals, has demanded that the culprits be arrested as he feared that his life would be in danger if the police fail to take timely action. Thakur told reporters on Sunday that he had purchased land at Palghar from one S R Dandekar. An offence had been registered against the accused with the Palghar police he said, adding that these criminals along with their three associates pulled out a revolver and threatened him at Borivli station.

In his memorandum, he alleged on January 3, his abduction was planned at the residence of Jitendra Jagannath Thakur, where Indrajit Jagannath Thakur, Ravindra Nirbhay Pande, Deepak Haribhau Gavande, Kamlesh Tiwari alias Sanjay Varam, and policemen Bharat Khandu Shinde, Madhukar Baba more were also present.
