Crime Watch -- Surat

Murdered
Surat: The Udhna police have registered a murder case on Sunday against Muneshwar Ramji Pawan Kumar, a resident of Khatrinagar slum. According to Rambahadur Verma, the brother of the victim Ramnaresh Verma who was killed on Sunday morning, the accused escaped after the murder. The police recovered the body of Ramnaresh from Khatrinagar slum. They said he had been stabbed repeatedly in the chest and abdomen and the culprit had also slit open his throat. Both, the accused and the victims are residents of Uttar Pradesh, the police said.

Fatal fall
Sanjay Rama Yadav, a labour at Essar Steel in Hazira died on admission to the Surat General Hospital on Saturday night after he fell off from a platform while on duty, the Ichhapore police said. According to police, Yadav was standing on a 12-foot high platform when he lost balance and fell, sustaining head injuries around 5 pm. He was rushed to the hospital immediately where he died. A case of accidental death has been registered.

Dowry case
The Kapodara police have interrogated three of a family following a complaint of physical and mental torture from a married woman for dowry. Gitaben Sakariya approached the Kapodara police on Sunday, stating that her in-laws Hira Sakariya, Kanta Sakaria and Ashwin, tortured her physically and mentally and demanded Rs 50,000 as dowry for the marriage of her sister-in-law. Police have registered a case and the probe is on.

Tyres stolen
Vadodara: Tyres worth Rs 18,000 were stolen from Tyre Point, a shop near Dhanlakshmi PetrolPump on Ranoli Crossing, on Friday night, the police said. According to police, thieves broke open the shutter and escaped with the goods. Investigations are on.
