FCI win, IA humbled

NEW DELHI, January 24: Swami Anand Muni (SAM) XI overcame a fighting Indian Airlines (NR) 1-0 while Food Corporation of India thrashed Delhi Transport Corporation 5-1 and MBS XI beat Punjab Olympians 1-0 in the Delhi State Hockey Championship.

The Swami Anand Muni XI vs Indian Airlines match was well-contested and both teams made good moves, but Pawan Kumar of Swami Anand Muni XI managed to score the winner in the 50th minute for his team.

The match between FCI (HQS) and DTC was an one-sided affair. M. Kumar opened the account for the winners in the 12th minute. Surinder Singh consolidated the lead further with two goals in a row in the 32nd and 34th minutes. For DTC, defender Paramjit Singh reduced the margin for DTC in the 38th minute. Prabhakar Singh scored the fourth goal for FCI in the 42nd minute and Harjinder completed the tally by scoring the fifth goal in the 50th minute.

The match between MBS XI and Punjab Olympian Club was also well-fought. After a barren first half, Davinder Singh scored the winner in the 38th minute for MBS XI.
