Plastic ban finds wide acceptance
In yet another step towards an imminent ban on plastic carry bags, the state government's proposed move to ban plastic bags thinner than 20 microns has met with a favourable response. A final notification banning thin carry bags will now be issued in early March.

Students' contest on good, bad ads
For the first time, in an inter-school contest a group of Std VIII students will judge the quality of ads telecast in India on February 6.The contest called `Good Ad, Bad Ad' is being organised by consumer body Mumbai Grahak Panchayat (MGP) in association with UNICEF.

Mahatma Gandhi's letters to reach President
Days after President K R Narayanan invoked the Mahatma to plead for inter-religious amity, he will receive on behalf of the nation hitherto unpublished letters from Gandhi to Maulana Abdul Bari, an Islamic scholar, leader of the Khilafat Movement (1920-22) and founder of the Jamiat-e-Ulema.
