MUMBAI, Jan 31: The decision to replace Manohar Joshi as chief minister was taken in the ``larger interests of Maharashtra,'' Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray said here.
He was speaking at a Dalit rally organised by the Sena at Shivaji Park today. There was no awkwardness about the entire exercise, the Sena chief claimed. ``There was no dispute, uneasiness or argument over the issue. ``Every political party shuffles its cards from time to time; I have done the same.''The rally, coordinated by Social Welfare Minister Babanrao Gholap, turned out to be a damp squib with no more than 10,000 dalits having assembled to hear the Sena leaders, including Joshi, speak. The ousted chief minister however left early to attend a meeting at Sahyadri, the state government rest house at Malabar Hill
