Cops in disguise flood Golden Temple

AMRITSAR, Feb 10: The Golden Temple complex was today flooded with policemen in plain clothes wearing blue turbans and flowing beards. Many of SSP and SP rank were in traditional Khalsa gear. Some of them were wearing `gatra' (sword across the shoulders) to hide their identity. The police from three districts of Amritsar, Majitha and Tarn Taran were deployed in and around the complex which included women police in plain clothes too.The reserve police force in uniform was stationed at the B-division police station. After holding an executive meeting, all the ten members went to the Golden Temple to pay obeisance and announced that decisions would be revealed after returning from the temple. They kept the media persons waiting till 1. 30 p.m. More than 200 journalists from Amritsar, Chandigarh and Delhi had arrived to cover the event. There was virtual pandemonium when copies of the resolution were distributed. Many intelligence personnel posing as journalists also joined the bandwagon. Finance Minister Kanwaljit Singh, Agriculture Minister Gurdev Singh Badal, Industry Minister Sucha Singh Langah and Kirpal Singh Badungar OSD to the Chief Minister, were waiting at the circuit house and were taking minute-to-minute details over cell phones.
