DVB raids power thieves, no arrests

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, February 22: Not a single arrest has been made in the Delhi Vidyut Board's campaign against power thefts in the Capital. The DVB had conducted raids along with the police in various parts of the city and registered 201 cases of theft. No one, however, has been arrested.

Bharat Heavy Electricals today assured the Lieutenant Governor that all deficiencies in the waste-heat recovery units of the DVB would be rectified by April. This would increase the availability of power by over 120 MW for this summer.

The assurance was made at a meeting called by the LG, Vijai Kapoor, to review steps being taken to ensure that gas turbines and waste-heat recovery units of the DVB were in good condition. The LG said that well-qualified competent personnel should be hand-picked to run the gas turbines. The meeting was attended by Minister of Power Narendra Nath and others.
