MUMBAI, FEB 22: Half-Centuries by southpaw Pushkaraj Jadhav and Vineet Saxena helped Board President's XI pile up 243 for the loss of six wickets against the touring Sri Lankan under-19 squad on the inaugural day of the three-day cricket match at Brabourne Stadium here.Jadhav's knock of 58 came off 130 balls and was decorated with nine fours. He displayed some fine strokeplay before succumbing to leggie Thilina Kandambi, the ball taking the outside edge and rushing to wicketkeeper Jerom Fernando.
Earlier in the day, the home team got off to a steady start with openers Ashu Jain and Dheeraj Jadhav keeping the scoreboard ticking. The former, in particular, played the Lankan seamers more freely, cracking seven boundaries. The introduction of spin brought his end, and he fell, leg before to left-arm spinner Ranil Dhamika.
Dhamika struck again to send skipper Asif Murtuza back to the pavilion with the total score reading 78.
The Jadhav duo of Pushkaraj and Dheeraj then added 50 runs for the third wicketbefore Dheeraj was caught by keeper Fernando off medium pacer Sathpath Kalum on 39.
Lankan skipper Upeka Fernando finished the day after finding Mrityunjay Tripathi leg before the wicket. Saxena (53) stood at the non-striker's end at stumps.
