Karnataka start favourites
Bangalore: Defending champions Karnataka have lived up to their reputation in the Ranji Trophy Super League thus far having accumulated 13 points from two encounters. This, in the absence of their stars -- RahulDravid, Javagal Srinath, Anil Kumble, Venkatesh Prasad and Sunil Joshi -- is a creditable performance from the state's second string.
Karnataka scored a resounding innings victory in the last encounter against Haryana last week. It is with this confident frame of mind the hosts play a balanced Saurashtra in the third match of Group C which begins here tomorrow.
Opponents Saurashtra, though devoid of big names, are no pushovers. Led by all-rounder Sitanshu Kotak who played India A against Pakistan, they took the first innings lead against Haryana. ``We have done well in the league sofar. And that should give us the confidence for tomorrow's match. If not gain five points, we want at least three,'' said a confident Kotak.

Baroda confident
Jaipur: Riding high on success this season, a well-balanced Baroda team is brimming with confidence for tomorrow's Group A match against Rajasthan.
The tie is crucial for players like Jacob Martin, who has been a prolific run-getter this season, and Rajasthan opener Gagan Khoda. With reports indicating Nationalselectors may try new faces in next month's triangular series by resting some seniors, both the batsmen could use the opportunity here.

Daunting task for Bengal
Calcutta: Hosts Bengal face a daunting task when they clash with Hyderabad in the Group A match at Eden Gardens tomorrow.
Fresh from their win against Punjab, Hyderabad have a young and balanced team and would be keen to maintain their winning touch against Bengal in what promises to be an exciting contest.
Ledby Test discard Venkatapathy Raju, Hyderabad have quality spinners in their ranks and the variety in the bowling department could prove to be a handful for the Bengal batsmen.
Bengal have so far collected eight points from two matches. They would be depending on in-form Devang Gandhi, Nikhil Haldipur, Rohan Gavaskar and Saba Karim to deliver the goods with the bat, but the bowling looks a little weak and inexperienced.
