Basketball meet

CHANDIGARH, Feb 22: The senior Chandigarh state basketball championship will be held at Sector 7 Sports Complex from March 4 to 6. According to press release, during the meet 30 probables, including 15 in the women, would be selected for the coaching camp. The final 12-member team in both men and women groups would be selected during the camp to take part in the 49th national basketball championship to be held at Jaipur from March 15 to 22.

Entries close on February 28, with KS Bharti, honorary secretary, Chandigarh Basketball Association, at the venue.

Junior athletics
Ranbir Singh (10-12 years), Jaspreet Singh (12-14 yrs) and Bhupinder Singh (14-16 yrs) emerged the fastest runners by winning 100 metres races in their respective categories of the athletic competitions organised by Resident Welfare Council, SAS Nagar today. More than 150 children took part in four events -- 100 m, 200m, long jump and shot put.

Harinder Pal Singh, president Municipal Council SAS Nagar inaugurated the meet while Amrik Singh Mohali, MC, SAS Nagar distributed the prizes.
