Telecom cos drag DoT to court
In a defiant move, five telecom companies including the four basic service operators Tata Teleservices, Essar, Hughes Ispat, Reliance and cellular operator Birla AT&T moved the high courts seeking to stay the department of telecom from encashing bank guarantee's as a result of non-compliance with the February 28 licence fee deadline.

Five bulk drugs to be delicensed
The government has decided to de-license the manufacture of five bulk drugs - Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Tetracycline, Oxytetracycline and Folic Acid. The entrepreneurs who wished to avail the de-licensing facility would be required to file an Industrial Entrepreneurs' Memorandum (IEM) in the industry ministry.

Lockheed, VSNL may pick up equity in Zee satcom project
American satellite company Lockheed Martin and the Indian overseas telecom carrier Videsh Sanchar Nigam (VSNL) are expected to pick up sizable equity in the Afro-Asian Satellite Communications (ASC) promoted by Subhash Chandra of Zee Television.
