Thane trader shot dead, two stabbed

MARCH 7: A young trader was shot dead and two others including his brother injured by a gang of six persons in Thane on Saturday night sparking a day-long bandh by shopkeepers in this industrial town today.

Ramesh Chapsi Boricha (20) had closed his grocery shop in the Khar Khar Ali locality at around 10 pm and was returning home with his brother Rahul and servant Choudhary when there was a blackout following power failure, police said.

An unidentified gang of six persons pounced on them and snatched a bag containing Rs 30,000 from the trader. When he resisted, he was shot dead at point blank range, while his brother and servant were stabbed. Rahul, who is a college student, is battling for his life at a hospital while the servant's condition was improving.
