Delhi girlsdemolish J-Kin handball

NEW DELHI, MARCH 9: Delhi demolished Jammu and Kashmir 13-0 in a pool `D' encounter of the 27th Senior National Women Handball Championship being played at the Nehru Stadium in Roopnagar today, according to reports reaching here.

The cake-walk victory for Delhi was made possible due to afine performance by Harpreet Kaur who scored half-a-dozen goals. Suman and Kavita contributed a brace each to swell Delhi's tally.

In Pool `B' Chandigarh and Andhra Pradesh kept the spectators spell-bound through their league encounter. The exciting match ended in a 12-all draw. For Chandigarh, Karanjit Kaur and Mandeep Kaur were the main scorers. Karanjit contributed seven goals while Mandeep netted four. P Anjaneshwari and G Saraswati served Andhra Pradesh well. They scored four goals each.

Anuradha stole the show on the opening day. The Uttar Pradesh captain scored five goals, including a hat-trick in the first six minutes, as her team overcame Karnataka. The winners led 7-5 at half time in their group `C' league fixture.

Anuradha started chasing her hat-trick in the third minute and completed it within six minutes by adding goals in the fifth and sixth minutes. The Uttar Pradesh captain got two more goals in the 12th and 21st minutes.

Uttar Pradesh's other scorers were Sushila Rani (8th, 13th, 25th and 33rd minutes, Rajni (32nd, 37th) and Simmi (19th).

Bhanumati of Karnataka topscored for her team with goals in the 10th, 15th, 22nd and 24th minutes. Babita Rani (7th, 14th), Reshma (25th, 38th) and Ramahiah (17th) were the other scorers for the losers.
