EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

Bangalore, March 12: Income-Tax sleuths raided the house of Tamil actress Kausalya on Palace Road here and reportedly seized incriminating documents showing unaccounted money worth Rs 25 lakh.

Tipped off by their Chennai counterparts, the sleuths descended on the house opposite Mount Carmel College on Wednesday and searched the premises. During the raid, both Kausalya and her mother were in Chennai and only the actress's father (a divisional manager of KSRTC) was present in the home.

The officers found fixed deposit receipts worth over Rs 10 lakh in Kausalya's name and another FD receipt worth Rs 10 lakh in her mother's name. I-T sleuths had earlier raided her hotel room in Chennai and seized Rs 75,000 worth unaccounted cash.

An ex-student of Mount Carmel College, Kausalya was known as Kavitha Shivshankar during her modelling days in the city. She made her foray into films through a Malayalam film. Later, she acted in a few Tamil films as well.

A few weeks ago, the I-T sleuths had also raided actressSoundarya's house in Hanumanthnagar and seized unaccounted advance payment to the tune of Rs 40 lakh.
