Super mom

Gunita Abrol
She is like that huge tree of love and strength that never falters. She gives me the warm sunshine of encouragement and strength that lingers with me, with very new day that blesses me with a lot of promises to be fulfilled.

She is a piece of classic art who starts her day much before the sun-shines on Mother Earth. She has her day scheduled to start by 8.00 a.m in the school but she still attends to my excuses of illness, despair, vacation. We never stop to think that has her own aspirations because we take her for granted. The rooms are always clean pictures hang perfect on the walls. The bathrooms sparkle and if anything goes wrong she shoulders the blame. Is she a superwoman we need throughout our life.

In my view the answer is `yes' because she copes with her husband, children, house-hold priorities and her career so well that it is just amazing.

The day she has some problems she never complains but goes to sleep with the attitude that tomorrow's day will be much brighter than today.

Sometimes I'm ill and she has to go for work and I simply say, ``let papa go to work and you stay with me at home.'' These small words mean so much to her, and stays back at the cost of her career. There are times when she comes home angry, and their is no electricity at home. The maid servant is not there and yet she manages to get all her work done.

She keeps her cool and tries to understand everyone in the family and boosts their morale in troubled times.

She provides me with all the things I've demanded in life even when I've felt very low. She gives me strength and a positive attitude.

She works hard all day and tries to provide a very comfortable shell around us.

While I was away in London, recently, I had everything - career, studies - but the cravings of this protective shell was always their because this shell gave me security, independence and made me into a person who could stand on her own feet. Anything said about her is inadequate because she is the most marvellous thing that could ever happen to me in my life. Because no one understands you better than a mother...

So on the occasion of mother's day I pay my due respect to my mother for everything she has given to me in the form of love and strength.
