NEW DELHI, MARCH 23: Lieutenant Governor Vijai Kapoor has asked the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to clean up and `upgrade' the Hauz Khas monument complex within two months. The LG's order was issued on March 21, two days after the BJP government's birthday bash inside the complex. The Hauz Khas monument is still littered with nails, thermocol and empty fruit juice cans.In an official note issued to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Kapoor has asked them to ``take concrete steps to upgrade the maintenance and the quality of the place''. Kapoor has given the DDA two months, before the monsoons arrive, to complete this task. Thereafter, he will take a ``walk around the complex to review the work''.
In his note, the LG pointed out: ``Deer Park, Hauz Khas complex is a unique piece of heritage, including the monument, the protected forest and the garden. The Conservator of Forests and Archaeological Survey of India have to be fully involved in upgrading it.'' The note has been forwarded to both departments.
