Army inducts mine-protected vehicles for J&K, N-E
The Army today inducted its first-ever lot of highly-sophisticated mine-protected vehicles (MPVs) to be extensively used in the low-intensity war being fought from across the border, as well as anti-insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir and the North-East.

Maharashtra to probe MSRTC tyre scam
A secretary to the state government would conduct an inquiry into the allegations of corruption in the purchase of over 17,000 tyres worth crores for Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation buses, State Transport minister Gajanan Kirtikar announced in the Legislature.

Report exposes overspending at MTNL exchange
An internal vigilance report has pointed to gross financial irregularities in the purchasing of equipment at Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd's (MTNL) Kandivli (west) exchange. Suppliers in connivance with MTNL officials have been over-charging on instruments and engineering items, bleeding the exchange around Rs 10 lakh.
