Art workshops for children

VADODARA, April 12: Art Underground, a city-based organisation, will conduct art workshops for children in Ahmedabad, Surat and Bangalore.

Titled `Intel - Epson Digital Art Workshop '99,' the workshops will train children in digital art.

The workshops will include basic training in digital skills, hands on exposure to leading edge computer technology, creative experiments with literature, music and digital creativity. Each child will have his/her own workstation and the paintings made by them will be printed on Epson Stylus Inkjet Colour Printer.

In Ahmedabad, the workshop will be held from May 20 to June 3, Surat May 5 to 19 and Bangalore April 16 to May 1.

Children between 6 and 16 years can take part. Meanwhile, 25 scholarships have been offered by INTEL for outstanding young talent keen to participate in the workshops. Those interested should send applications to INTEL Scholarship Committee at the addresses given before April 25. The application should have a recommendation from respective school art teacher or hobby class art teacher, a description of achievements in paintings/art, best painting and five line description on why one would like to paint on a computer.

According to Nandini Gandhi of the Art Underground, the organisation has contributed more than Rs 2 lakh for social causes such as animal welfare by auctioning digital art paintings. The digital art paintings will be exhibited and later auctioned.
