Rohida posters put up all over Gujarat

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, MAY 17: Posters carrying photographs of dreaded criminal Raju Rohida, who made a murderous assault on the life of Congress corporator and builder Shailesh Mehta alias Sotta recently, have been displayed at all public places in the state.

The posters have been printed by the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) here to acquaint people with the criminal's photograph, so that they can identify him if they come across him and inform the police.

The poster also announces a reward for anyone informing the police about Rohida. However, the reward amount has yet not been decided.

Meanwhile, an official of the local unit of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) denied that it was carrying out any investigation into Rohida's escape from police custody while being escorted from Mumbai to Vadodara or his assault on Sotta. ``We gather intelligence for our own use but it should not be construed that we are conducting an investigation'', a senior official, requesting anonymity, said when asked about a news item which appeared in a section of the vernacular press.

Commissioner of Police J. Mahapatra, when asked about the progress into the inquiry, said: ``It is progressing well. I am supervising it myself. But it is too early to give any statement on it''.
