CHANDIGARH, MAY 17: State Bank of Patiala and Reserve Bank of India will clash in the final of the team event in the Inter-Bank table tennis tournament, which is being played here at the Reserve Bank of India premises. In the semifinals today, SBP beat State Bank of India 3-0 while RBI `A' got the better of RBI `B' 3-0.
Rakesh Sharma gave a flying start to SBP by outplaying Pawan (SBI) 21-5, 21-10, in the first singles. D Singh consolidated the lead by defeating Dalip in straight set 21-16, 21-15.
However, in the decider, Vaneet Chopra scored a facile win over Kamal 21-6, 21-5, to win the match and wrap up the contest.
In the second semifinal, Veer Singh of RBI `A' prevailed over HL Meena (RBI `B') 21-11, 21-13. Then it was the turn of Sanjeev Agarwal, who made it 2-0 for RBI `A' by scoring a 21-6, 21-19 win over Onkar Singh. In the decider PK Chopra beat VS mathur 21-17, 21-14.
The final of the team event will be played tomorrow.
Veterans singles and men's events will also begin tomorrow.
