Blair picks traditional poet for nation's bard
An Oxford-educated poet, Andrew Motion, has been selected to succeed Ted Hughes as Poet Laureate of England, The Times reported on Wednesday.

Om Puri's portrayal of a Pakistani immigrant in Britain, married to a local girl (Linda Basset), who determinedly hangs on to his traditions - orthodox Islam and arranged marriages for his reluctant children - has bowled over audiences at the Cannes film festival.
