CHANDIGARH, MAY 21: The members of the Chandigarh Kabadi Union today staged a rally at the Chandigarh Housing Board roundabout to press for their demands.
The members protested the alleged move by the UT police department to ban their entry into the sectors to collect junk.
The protestors alleged that, according to orders by the UT police department, they can not move around in the residential sectors to earn their living.
Ram Shanker, president of the union, said that since many days, beat officers were not allowing members of the union into the sectors.
A deputation of the union later presented a memorandum of their demands to the IGP.
The protestors said they and their families were starving. So, if the police department planned to continue preventing them from collecting junk, it should arrange for food for their families.
Cheating case registered
The Panchkula Police has registered a case against the finance company Marigold India Ltd. following a complaint by Rani alias Krishna, a resident of Ambala city. The complainant has said that the company cheated her of Rs 60,000.
