Inflation at 3.67 pc
NEW DELHI: Reduction in prices of food products triggered yet another fall in the inflation rate to its 85-week low of 3.67 per cent on May 8. It was 3.70 per cent the week earlier. This figure is the lowest since September 27, 1997. The decline was despite the jump in prices of beverages, tobacco and tobacco products and chemical products. It had been on decline for the sixth consecutive week since April 3 this year. The inflation rate was at 6.58 per cent during the corresponding week last year.
WTO ruling
NEW DELHI: India is likely to ask the World Trade Organisation on Wednesday to set up an appellate body to review its panel's ruling quashing quantitative restrictions on imports maintained by New Delhi. India would inform WTO of its decision to appeal against the dispute settlement panel ruling when the dispute settlement body takes up the case for consideration.
