Captured officer, 3 jawans likely to be in POK
An officer and three soldiers of the 4 Jat are believed to have been captured by the infiltrators and taken across to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) while two other officers and three soldiers are missing in action in the Drass sector.

Action limited to Kargil, Vajpayee tells President
Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee conveyed to President K R Narayanan yesterday that the Government did not want to engage Pakistan militarily and intends to confine its operations to the Kargil sector.

It was after intense fighting spread over three months in 1948 that India gained supremacy over the strategically vital Drass-Kargil axis, where Pakistan has been making renewed efforts to gain control during the past couple of days.
