NEW DELHI, JUNE 8: The customs department at the Indira Gandhi International arrested a Greek national for illegal possession of hashish yesterday.
Identified as Vainderli Maria, the woman was produced today at the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Sangita Dhingra Sehgal. She has been remanded to 10 days in judicial custody. The customs department says the woman, a resident of Saloniki, Greece, was carrying hashish, which added up to about 7.30 kg. She was apparently booked on a Scandinavian Airlines flight to Zurich. The flight was scheduled to go via Copenhagen.
The customs department arrested her while her baggage was being cleared by customs. The court told customs authorities to produce the accused before a special Narcotics, Drugs and Psychotropic Substances court.
