Kosovo peace pact signed, UN to deploy troops
The United Nations Security Council today authorised deployment of a heavily armed international peacekeeping force, comprising mostly NATO troops, in Kosovo, overruling the objections by China.

G-8 asks India, Pak to respect LoC, cease fighting
The group of eight industrialised nations (G-8) today called upon India and Pakistan to respect the Line of Control, to work for an immediate cessation of fighting and return to the negotiating table in the spirit of the Lahore declaration.

NATO air strikes against Yugoslavia suspended
NATO secretary general Javier Solana today announced the suspension of air strikes against Yugoslavia. Solana made the announcement on day 79 of `Operation Allied Force,' saying Yugoslav forces have begun a verifiable withdrawal from Kosovo.
