13 countries to take part in UN meeting on province

UNITED NATIONS: At least 13 countries, including the G7 leading industrialised nations, Russia and China, are expected to take part in next week's UN meeting on civilian administration for Kosovo. The meeting, to be chaired by UN Secretary General Kofi Annan on Wednesday, will provide ``a chance to review where we are, what we need, where we want to go,'' UN spokesman Fred Eckhard said on Friday. A provisional roster of attendees includes Finland, whose President Martti Ahtisaari played a major role in reaching a peace accord. Having so many powerful players at the table ``will give a chance to the Secretary-General to again appeal for what he needs in the way of people and money to advance the mission there,'' Eckhard said. At the top of the agenda are Kosovo's ``growing law and order problems,'' said Eckhard, as UN troops confront reprisals by ethnic Kosovar Albanians on Serbs.
