MUMBAI, July 11: A superb spell of left-arm spin bowling by Nilesh Kulkarni (six for 18) and an unbeaten 32 by opener Sameer Apte helped National beat Victory Cricket Club by ten wickets in the Dr HD Kanga League `A' Division today.
Heavy rains on Saturday evening delayed start of play at various venues. At Shivaji Park, Khar Gumkhana and MIG, Bandra, all matches were washed out without a ball being bowled.
The National-Victory tie at Police Gymkhana could begin only at 2 p.m., but ended swiftly, after Victory were bowled out for 42 in 30.1 overs. Amit Dani and Manish Patel shared the spoils with Kulkarni. National reached the target in just 6.5 overs.
In another low-scoring match, Young Maharashtra defeated MB Union by eight runs. MB Union were set to score 98 and were 60 for five at one stage before being dismissed for 89. Medium pacer Rahul Thakur, Vivek Narawane, C Padmanabhan and Kedar Hudlikar took two wickets each.
