Paes-Arthurs lead by set

Express News Service
NEWPORT, July 11: Leander Paes and Wayne Arthurs' doubles semi-final match at the Newport Hall of Fame tournament was delicately poised when lack of light forced the match to be called off yesterday. Paes and Arthurs had taken the first set 6-4, but were a break down in the second against D Dilucia and L Tieleman. They trailed 1-3.

The delay was apparently caused by John McEnroe's long speech. McEnroe was inducted into the tennis Hall of Fame yesterday, and the acceptance ceremony forced the singles and doubles matches to be rescheduled.

The incomplete semi-final will begin on Sunday, and will be followed by the singles and doubles final.
