Sameer Jang strikes a brace

NEW DELHI, JULY 11: A goal in each half by striker Sameer Jang helped Shahdara Football Club beat Tarun sangha 2-0 in the DSA-SAIL Senior Division League Football Championships at Ambedkar Stadium here today.

In another encounter, Moonlight played a goalless draw with South India.

Sameer Jang gave Shahdara an early lead when he struck in the very third minute of the game against Tarun Sangha. Tarun Sangha dominated the proceedings from the very start but failed to cash in on their several oppotunities.

After change of ends, Shahdara got another opportunity to increase the lead. But Promod Rawat failed to make good the goal-scoring chance.In the 47th minute, however, Sameer jang scored his and his team's second goal to seal Tarun Sangha's fate.

Shahadara have earned six points from two matches while Tarun Sangha have only one point in three games.

Moonlight have four points from two encounters while South India have bagged just one point after two games. Monday's matches: Collegians vs Goans Sports, Simla Youngs vs Frontiers.
