League's maiden hat-trick by Gosen

NEW DELHI, JULY 13: Ramawia Gosen's four-goal effort, including the tournament's first hat-trick, helped Indian Air Force (New Delhi) trounce Garhwal Heroes 5-0 in the DSA-SAIL Football League Championship at Ambedkar Stadium here today. It was Air Force's third straight victory and the team has collected nine points while Garhwal Heroes tasted another defeat.

Air Force's Joyanta Das put his side ahead in the 14th minute while Ramawia Gosen increased the lead in the 17th minute. Thereafter, Garhwal Heroes thwarted Airmen's onslaughts to take any further advantage in the first session.

On changing ends, Ramawia Gosen struck three more goals in the 36th, 39th and 55th minute to complete the tally to 5-0.

Earlier, strong contenders Indian Nationals scored a goal in each half to registar a 2-0 win over Hans Club.

Indian Nationals have collected seven points from three matches while Hans Club tasted their third defeat.

Nationals, combining well through their medios Deepak Gurung and Adeji Anthony Adeyemi, made inroads into the opponents area and were successful in the fifth minute of the initial half to open the scoring through speedy striker Amarjeet Singh Sahani. Down by the goal, Hans did not lose their hearts and tackled gallantly forward Esheku Charles and Shyam Kumar's serious efforts.

On changing ends, Nationals' left-winger Shyam Kumar netted the second goal in the 45th minute.

In a`A' division match of Group-I at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium ground, State Bank of India defeated Venus Club 2-0 to top the group by getting 13 points from seven matches. Former international Anadi Barua and former Delhi State captain Abhijoy Basu were the scorers who struck in the 20th and 44th minute, respectively.

In another match, Ashoka Club defeated Young Boys 2-1. The match never rose to any expectation but the Young Boys failed to utilise the few opportunities that came their way.

However, Zaidual Islam and Ashoka's Ravi Kumar struck for Ashoka while Amit Chawalascored for the loser.
