Chinese newspapers on Friday gave widespread but restrained coverage to the announcement the country has developed a neutron bomb.

Two leading Congressmen have opposed an amendment that seeks to withhold American aid to countries like India which voted with the United States less than 25 per cent times in the United Nations.

Sharif's bid to clear doubts
Under fire from the Opposition and militant groups for ordering the pull-out of Pakistani forces from Kargil, Premier Nawaz Sharif has set up a Special Cabinet Committee (SCC) to erase "misunderstanding" about the joint US-Pak statement on which the withdrawal was based and propose steps to highlight the Kashmir cause.
