CFA divided, elects Ad hoc secretary

CHANDIGARH, July 23: In an unprecedent move, AS Bains, president of Chandigarh Football Association (CFA) held a general council meeting today in which Rakesh Bakshi was removed from the post of secretary for his "anti-association activities."

According to a press release, AS Bains and the other members of the units present, appointed PS Brar as Ad hoc secretary, till the election of the CFA are held. The elections are scheduled to be held in October.

A few days back, the other faction led by Rakesh Bakshi also held its meeting at the DAV School in Sector 8. Rakesh Bakshi and Ravinder Talwar were unanimously elected secretary and president of the CFA. Other office bearers were also nominated by the president.

In the meeting today, the president also announced that the Chandigarh State Senior League will be conducted in August.

The meeting was attended by 36 affiliated units, the release further said.

The Shivalik Trophy football tournament slated to be held from August 2, will be conducted as per scheduled. The entires close with Shivalik Public School, Sector 41 and Government Model Senior Secondary School-35.
