Former MLA denies instigating youth

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
AHMEDABAD, Aug 2: While the 25-year-old Prakash who had initially maintained that he was stabbed later confessed before the police that he had done so at the instigation of former BJP MLA Bhupendra Khatri, the former MLA maintained that he had only asked Prakash to file a complaint in Karanj police station.

Khatri denied that he had asked Prakash to name a specific area or persons in connection with the stabbing.

Khatri told Express Newsline that on Saturday, he had received a call from one of his workers that a resident of Kalupur was stabbed. He had rushed to the V S Hospital where he met Prakash. After learning it was a superficial injury, he advised Prakash to lodge a complaint with Karanj police, and alleged that the issue was being blowing up to malign him.

Meanwhile, Prakash in his FIR said he had gone to Piramshah Masjid area to meet a friend. Later he returned to his place in Bakeri Ni Pol. On his way to returning a cycle, a shop-owner told him that his shirt was torn. He found a cut on his body while examining the tear on his shirt. A local doctor advised him to go to V S Hospital.

Prakash said Khatri later came to meet him in Hospital and asked him to say that he was stabbed by three or four persons in Vasfodia Mohalla.

However, in the final FIR he has stated that he did not recall when and where he was stabbed.
