Kirtanes go down fighting

PUNE, Aug 2: The Kirtane cousins -- Nitin and Sandeep -- of India lost in the doubles final of the first leg of the Egypt Futures, going down to Australian pair of Glen Knox and Darren Curral 7-6, 2-6, 5-7, according to the reports reaching here today.The duo from Pune had defeated A Youzni (Russai) and Timur G (Uzbekistan) 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 in the semi-finals on Thursday. The cousins have earned 12 points for their effort. Route to the final
1st Rd: bt Mustafa Ghouse (India)-Munir (Morocco) 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7/1).
Quarter-final: bt M Mather (USA) - A Gietl (Germany) 6-2, 6-2.
Semis: bt A Youzni (Russai)- Timur G (Uzk) 6-2, 4-6, 6-1.
