BANGKOK, AUGUST 19: A drug trafficker was nabbed with thousands of amphetamine pills after undercover agents here told him the drug was destined for war-weary Pakistani soldiers fighting Indian troops in Kashmir area, reports said on Thursday. The police said Surin Kongtabtim, 37, confessed he had spent his entire life's savings on some 26,000 methamphetamine tablets which he intended to sell to an undercover cop, a Pakistani disguised as a drug buyer, the Bangkok Post reported.
Surin told the Post he had fallen for the trap after the agents told him thousands of tablets were desperately needed by Pakistani troops.
Thai authorities say they are anxious about the number of amphetamine pills flooding the country from factories across the border in Myanmar.
According to officials, last month Thai troops seized more than four million amphetamine tablets after a fierce gun battle with suspected drug traffickers in the north of the country.
