Vajpayee flays Congress over Kargil
Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee today provided the much needed impetus to the Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party alliance in Punjab by addressing three public meetings on the last day of the campaign in which the two common themes were Kargil and the Congress. Sharpening the tone of his attack on the Congress in Moga, Vajpayee accused the party of indulging in politics of a frivolous and contemptible nature over the Kargil issue.
Sonia in Bellary
"It is my family's dharma and my desha seva dharma," said Sonia Gandhi hours before campaigning for the first round of polling ended on Friday. In Bellary for her do-or-die poll fight with the BJP's Sushma Swaraj, the Congress president declared that individuals may come and go, but she was here for India and that nobody could take away her right to serve the country.
