UNITED NEWS OF INDIA

Mohanty, who won the Texdec-AITA tournament title here last week, breezed past Rohan Gajjar of Maharashtra 6-1, 6-2 to set up a summit clash with third seed Vinod K Sewa of West Bengal in the final tomorrow. Sewa caused a mild flutter accounting for second seeded Amanjot Singh of Chandigarh 6-1, 7-5.

In the girls under-16 semifinals, top two seeds Megha Vakaria of Maharashtra and Nandita Chandrasekhar of Tamil Nadu, entered the final registering contrasting victories.

After her upset win over top seeded Sania Mirza yesterday, Ankita down 0-3 in the second set, raised her performance to oust third seeded Lata Assudani of Maharashtra 6-4, 6-3. Ankita would now meet second seeded Isha Lakhani of Maharashtra, who defeated fourth seeded Sanaa Bhambri of Delhi 6-1, 6-2, in the final tomorrow.

The top two seeds in the boys' under-14 section -- Vikrant Sane of Maharashtra and Arun Prakash of Tamil Nadu -- won their semifinal encounters in straight sets to move into final.

Both Ankita and Lata traded early breaks and again in the fifth and sixth games of the first set, before the former broke Lata in the ninth game for a 5-4 lead. Then she served out the set 6-4.
