PUNE, Sept 16: Two days after polling, Municipal Commissioner Ratnakar Gaikwad has ordered departmental heads to float tenders for various development works, which were stopped for more than a month because of model code of conduct.
Even as the model code of conduct will be in force till October 5, the administration has decided to initiate development works as the issue of influencing the voters could not arise because polling was already over. During the last one month only those priority works, recommended by the municipal commissioner, were implemented.
Following the instructions from the Municipal Commissioner, various departments are expected to float tenders in the next couple of days. The priority will be given to the works in merged 38 villages. The tenders will also be floated for maintenance and construction of major roads including Senapati Bapat Road, Aundh Road and new road along the river from Navsahyadri to Mhatre bridge.
Water supply department will also release advertisements for 25 works in the next week. The department will mainly undertake work of laying pipe lines in Wanowarie, Mundhwa, Keshavnagar and Sasanenagar.
