Four-member CBSE table tennis team for Dubai
The table tennis boys team selected by CBSE from amongst its school in India will leave for a goodwill tour to Dubai on September 18 to play friendlies against CBSE affiliated schools in Gulf. During their tour from September 19 to 23, the four-member team will play matches in Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
The team: Disney (Ludhiana), Amal Raj, David (both Ajmer), Ravi Narain (Chennai), GP Gautam (manager).

DLDAV, Apex enter final
DL DAV Public School (Shalimar Bagh) triumphed over Bal Bharti Public School 25-10, 25-11, 25-23 in the first semi-final of the CBSE Cluster-X inter-school vollyeball tournament at VV DAV Public School (Vikaspurri) ground.

In the second semi-final of the boys section, Apex Public School beat Mission Public School (Janak Puri) 25-9, 25-14, 25-12. In the girls section, Gyan Bharti defeated Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (KG Marg) 25-11, 25-9, 25-6 while DAV (Vasant Kunj) overwhelmed Bal Bhawan (Mayur Vihar) 20-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-12. In the yersterday's matches, St Marks School (Meera Bagh, girls) beat VVDAV Public School 25-24, 25-21; DLDAV (boys) prevailed over Delhi Police Public School 25-12, 25-18.CSRM School (boys) beat Poorna Pranjana Public School 21-25, 25-20, 15-8; JD Tytler defeated MM Public School (Pitam Pura) 25-14, 25-17; Vivekananda Public School humbled Bal Bharti Public School (Pitam Pura) 25-10, 25-5. In the girls section, Blue Bells School thrashed Adarsh Public School (V Puri) 25-15, 25-7; DAV (Vasant Kunj) triumphed over Salwan Public School (Rajinder Nagar) 25-11, 25-4 while Gyan Bharti Public School (Saket) outplayed Carmel Convent School 25-19, 25-14).

Title for Bal Bhavan
Bal Bhavan School (Mayur Vihar, Phase II) won the senior girls kho-kho, East Zone-II, title beating Mayur Public School (West Vinod Nagar) 12-4 in the final encounter. Rashmi Nautiyal, Shweta Roongta and Shazia Nisar were the principal contributors for the winners. Earlier, Bal Bhavan trounced Sarvodya Kanya Vidyalaya (West Vinod Nagar) 10-6 in the semi-final.

FIG sports festival
The Federation of Indian Games organised a week-long sports festival in the memory of late hockey wizard Dhyan Chand, recently, where about 400 students from 41 schools participated. The events were held in hockey, football, kho-kho, basketball and volleyball. Experimenting with the format of the field events, the FIG organised football and hockey events on a six-a-side pattern. According to its secretary SK Choudhry, the FIG plans to add other events like taekwon-do, kabaddi, judo and wrestling in the coming meets.

This year's winners will be awarded in a function on October 1 at Pyarelal Bhawan. Following are the winners: Dhyan Chand Memorial Volleyball Trophy: winners: Apex School, runners-up Ramjas No 4; Hockey: winners: GG School, Gurnam Hera, runners-up National Stadium Centre; Basketball: winners: Mamta Modern Sr Sec School, runners-up: JD Tytler School, Rajinder Nagar; Football: Mamta Modern Sr Sec School; Kho-kho: GG School, Keshopur.

Swimming meet postponed
The inter-school swimming meet which was to be held from September 21 to 24 at Talkatora Swimming Pool has been postponed due to some unavoidable circumstances. Next date will be announced later. For any information contact Sports Branch, Chhattarsal Stadium, Model Town.
