Stamp design contest held
Vadodara: About 200 school students participated in an `On-the-spot Stamp Design Contest', organised by Vadodara Postal Region here on Sunday. According to an official release, a departmental selection committee would evaluate the entries and decide the winners in junior and senior categories. The prizes are likely to be given away during the Postal Week later in the month, the release said, adding that the department would also choose one of the award-winning designs for a special stamp to be released on Children's Day.

Mayor Umakant Joshi distributed prizes among outstanding sportspersons and artistes for their performance during the recently concluded Ganesh Utasva. Several other senior VMC leaders were also present at the function, held at Vidya Garba ground in Manjapur area. The function was organised by Vidya Kridangan Samiti, Manjalpur.
Rainfall
Only four of the 12 talukas of the district recorded good rainfall in the past 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Sunday. According to the local flood control room, Dabhoi received 7 mm (total rainfall in the season till date 435 mm), Vadodara, 14 mm (306 mm), Savli 8 mm (464 mm) and Kwant 10 mm (276 mm) of rainfall. According to Met officials, more rainfall has been forecast for the next 24 hours in several parts of the district.
Mad horse
Rajkot: Police shot a horse near the Government colony on Raiya Road late on Saturday evening. The police had received complaints in the morning from residents in Chandan Park area on Raiya Road that four stray horses had gone berserk. The police launched a search at noon but could not locate the animals. Later in the evening, another phone call tipped them off about one horse which had bitten 15 people in the government colony area. With the help of the fire staff, the wild horse was shot at. It was later taken away by the RMC ambulance.
