Rs 550 cr loss in GAIL `distress sale'
Former Union finance minister and senior TMC leader P Chidambaram today condemned offloading of 135 million shares of Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL), saying the Centre owed an explanation to the people as to who took the decision to price the shares at Rs 70.

No open bidding for oil divestment
The Committee of Secretaries (CoS) has rejected the Ministry of Finance's proposal to go in for open bidding of the four oil sector public sector units (PSUs) which are to be disinvested this year.

SBI to float gold deposit scheme
India's largest commercial bank plans to launch a gold deposit scheme next week as part of official efforts to flush out privately held gold and cut imports, a senior bank official said on Monday.
