Over 41 lakh pilgrims visit Vaishno Devi

KATRA, NOV 21: Over 41.72 lakh pilgrims from various parts of the country have so far visited the holy cave shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine since January, this year. The pilgrim traffic to the shrine has started picking up and an average of 14,000 to 16,000 yatris are reaching Katra everyday.

In the first week of the current month, only 6,000 to 8,000 yatris were daily pouring at the base camp.

During the first fortnight of the current month, as many as 2,12,397 devotees have paid obeisance at the holy shrine, of them, 1.90 lakh were from outside of the state.

Keeping in view the daily influx of pilgrims, yatra index is likely to cross 47 lakh pilgrims during the calendar year.
