Phone bills sent twice
The Department of Telecommunication (DoT) on Wednesday admitted that telephone rentals have been billed twice to about 700 phone numbers diverted from the 46 series to the 51 series in the bills dated November 11. A DoT spokesman said that the affected subscribers need not pay the bills as revised bills were being dispatched shortly. If any bill is paid, the excess amount will be adjusted in the next bills. If revised bills are not received by December 13, the subscribers may contact bill inquiry on 1660 or get duplicate bills from the service centre at the Zilla Panchayat Bhavan.

Sugar industry boiler fired
The boiler of the Sardar Co-operative Sugar Industries Limited at Ladhod in Sankheda taluka of the district was fired on Saturday. The Industry has the capacity to crush 2,500 tonnes of sugar daily. Among those present on the occasion were former MP Sanat Mehta, chairman of Gujarat State Co-operative Bank Limited, Ahmedabad, Jayrambhai Patel and former president of Vadodara District Panchayat Jagdish Patel.

Eye-care camp organised
Over 150 patients attended an eye check-up camp organised by Helping Hands, a voluntary organisation, at Bhadarwa, 27 kilometres from Vadodara on Sunday. Dr Devanand Panchal treated patients from Bhadarwa, Poicha, Rania, Parthampura, Vakaner and Ranjitnagar and gave them medicines at a subsidised rate.

Narmada website planned
The city Youth Congress president Naval Bajaj has announced plans to create a website to create awareness in the world about the Narmada and the Sardar Sarovar Project (SSP). Addressing a meeting of party workers here on Monday, he said that awareness also needs to be created at the village level, particularly since the Project has faced rough weather in the last few years. A campaign will be launched for the project, he stated. The youth party workers will soon call on the Narmada Development Minister to discuss the issue.

Factory inspectorate meet on Dec 5
A day-long meeting approved by the Factory Inspectorate, Gujarat, will be organised by Gujarat Safety Council here at Hotel Panchsheel on December 5. According to councillor general secretary Dr P T Shah, the meet is aimed at knowing the objectives, responsibilities and information about the profession and exchange views. State Labour Commissioner Sujit Gulati and Chief Inspector of Factories B N Mehta are expected to remain present to give guidelines. Osho centre inaugurated
Osho Swarupam Sahtiya Kendra, located in Lakshya Complex, Fatehgunj, was inaugurated by Gitaben Shah of Yogini Vasanti Devi Hospital recently. Osho literature in Hindi, English and Gujarati languages will be available here.
