SURAT, Dec 2: The General Practitioner's Association (GPA), Surat, will organise a conference on `Family Practice in the Next Millennium' on Sunday.Field Marshall Sam Manekshaw will inaugurate the meet, titled GPCON'99, at Gandhi Smruti Bhavan at 9 am. Over 600 delegates from all over the country are expected to attend the conference, the second in the series being organised by the GPA.
The Association's president, Tony Nicholas, told newspersons on Thursday that Dr Ramanik Parekh of Mumbai will deliver keynote address on the theme. Other prominent speakers include Dr Indravadan Shah of Surat, Dr Naram M Patel, Dr B K Dholakia, Dr D K Toprani (both from Mumbai) and Dr Nanubhai G Desai, Dr N B Vadgama, Dr Jayendra Kapadia, Dr Yatish Lapsiwala (from Surat).
Nicholas said objectives of the conference are to impart knowledge of basic necessities of family practice, improve the standard of family practice to cope with challenges of the next millennium and establish inter-personal relationship between different units of Federation of Family Physician's Association of India. The conference will have about 20 stalls at the venue, the organisers said.
