Mumbai, Jan 3: Vishal Shah of St Joseph's, Malad, fresh from a good performance in the Asian Youth Championships, logged 10.5 points from 11 rounds to lift the under-10 boys title in the Parle G chess festival, organised by Bandra Chess Club, at St Stanislaus School today.

The open boys title went to Srinivas Iyer of Guru Nanak School, Bhandup, who pipped Vaibhav Saxena on better progressive score. Both had scored 9.5 points from 11 rounds.

On the top board, Vishal Shah drew Sanju Malaikal of St Stanislaus, Bandra, after Sanju kept on giving perpetual checks after being one pawn down.In the open category, top seed Vaibhav Saxena defeated Atharva Moralwar to join Srinivas and secure second place.

Mischief-AVS final
Mischief Makers, Pune, and Agradneya Vyayamshala, Dombivli, will contest the mini girls final in the 3rd Fr Agnel open basketball tournament at Vashi. In the semi-finals on Monday, Mischief Makers defeated Indian Gymkhana 28-11, while Agradneya acbeat Saraswathi, Nagpur 36-26.

Results: Mischief Makers 28 (Tarkeshwari 7, K Afreen 5) bt Indian Gym 11 (G Ketki 8) HT 18-10; Agradneya 36 (Devashree Patwardhan 20) bt SKS 26 (Khushboo 8) HT 20-14.

Anshul, Saket showdown
Anshul Manchanda and Saket Wali entered the finals of the Mumbai University men singles inter-college squash tournament at CCI today.
