Hi,
The column, `Drop FIR or face consequences, his father told my girl' was
conceived in a good manner. I think you should conduct a survey of public
opinion on wether the judgement made in this case was proper or not. As
yours is the leading newpaper, your poll should make an impact.
Ashok Kumar
Dear Sir/Madam,
Well done on a complete newspaper on the internet. I love it and will
do so forever. I just would like to bring upon one thing. Why is it that
your newspaper on the internet is well ahead of others which are from
developed countries, but India is also developing country. But anyway,
congratulations on a wonderful and informative website and hope that you
will keep it up for many more generations to come.
Raja Devanathan
Hi,
I am students studying for MS in mechanical engineering in Canada and
I read your article " Why Jaywant 'Denial' Lele is more equal than others"
in the internet and I have just one word to describe the article "SUPERB".
To bring such people like Lele back to their normal sense we not more
of such articles and more of their misdeeds should be brought out. Anyway,
that was good work and please do keep it up.
Arun
Dear Sir,
You do a very fine job of presenting India on the your website. It is

and is clearly ahead of other similar sites. Keep it up.

Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to commend your staffs' efficient way of presenting each
news article on the web about India and the world, which is combined
with accuracy, fairness (being non-judgemental), proficiency in English
and a class of its own which I think is definitely far ahead of all
other Indian newspapers.
It is sad that there are even some newspapers that gives a different news
when clicked on a different news title and they are not even updated for
days!!
Keep up the good work and good luck.
A.Narayan
Dear Sir,
I am Indian educated in Australia and living in Sydney for the last 26 years.

on the Internet is excellent.
Dr Murti V.N. Durvasula, Sydney.
Dear Sir,
I came across graffiti today. It made my day. The content, format and the
presentation are all very impressive. Keep up the good work. 'Dog years'
was touching. The poems were good too. All the best .
George Augustine.
Dear Sir,
Please accept my congratulations for concise and to-the-point news
reporting. I live in the US and read all the major Indian news papers
off the web, but yours is always different. Your headlines communicate
the basic points of a news in a Flash.
Umesh Kaul, USA
Dear Sir,
I surfed through the Express India web site and I must say that I am very
impressed. It is interesting to read the editorials from another
nation and the opinions of other readers. Keep up the good
work.
Ted Villalon, Texas, USA
Dear Sir,
I came to USA for a post doctoral research at the chemistry department,
Princeton University from regional research laboratory, Trivandrum. After
landing here for the first time, I was totally cut off from my motherland.
After taking the advice of my friends, I started regularly watching your
internet updates on Expressindia.com . The net not only covers news extensively
but also sports, regional, business etc. The service by net is really
a gift for NRI's to update Indian scenario time to time. The budget 99
and railway budget news coverage was really superb.
Dr. P. Shanmugam, Princeton University, USA
Dear Sir,
Keep Updating and keep giving us latest news from Mother India.
Keep the Good work!
Sathish, USA
Dear Sir,
Recently I read the article on Mayo College by Devendra Tak and was really
pleased. The article brought back a lot of good old memories as I am also
an ex Mayoite. Must appreciate Mr. Tak's article which I suppose must
have touched the hearts of a lot of other ex Mayoites. I am however looking
forward to the next part of the same article and would like to know when
it is being published.
Anurag Saboo.
Dear Sir,
I appreciate the reporting you do in the Indian Express. I am an international
advisor at a college in Oklahoma and I have a student from India and several
from Nepal and they rely on the internet and sites like yours to stay
informed about events in their countries.
Keith Sutton, Miami
Dear Sir,
The layout for finanical express is excellent. The coverage is quite good.
It is extremely informative.
Balu.
Dear Sir,
First let me congratulate you on a great web site. I use it frequently.
I see a lot of news relating to "Delhi" and "Maharashtra" included in
the "States" news. I have yet to see news on Rajasthan. Please include
this state as well. Keep up the good work!
Ashok Rathi, Sunnyvale, CA
Dear Sir,

of sports on the Internet is excellent.
Dr Murti V.N. Durvasula, Sydney .
Dear Sir,
In addition to your detailed reports on various items, we expect the status
of each country in asian games. We are looking for a table showing the
position of each participant in the order of medals. Thank you for the
wide coverage of sports news.
Sreekumar.
Dear Sir,
I liked the life mate concept, and want this to be promoted on a large
scale, so that Indian bachelors will be able to find their suitable matches
all over the world. Well Done.
Randeep Singh Mangat.
Dear Sir,
I have read with great interest the various articles on power in India.
Express Power is a wonderful concept and I hope you continue to publish
this terrific resource.

Dear Sir,
Though I have read many articles on AIDS, this is presented in brief, but
conveys the message in full. It is very informative and eye-opening. How
can I contribute in this mega-drive to prevent the deadly desease from spreading
in India?
Wilson Alexander, Dubai.
Dear Sir,
I am a regular surfer of your site and I get immense satisfaction by reading
and viewing your home pages. I like the "Latest News " section as it is
the only place, as far as I know, which gives the latest news in the broadest
sense.
Abhijit Sarkar
Dear Sir,
Your article about aids in India is very timely. As a practicing Infectious
Disease specialist which includes AIDS, what we are seeing in India is
only the tip of the iceberg. What we need is the resource to fight the
infection. Many people in which the diagnosis has been confirmed, have
no resources to buy the expensive medications. For all practical purposes,
this illness combined with TB is a deadly combination which is difficult
to treat. The AIDS awareness has to be started at college level and if
possible also at school level. Prevention and public education is very
important in fighting this incurable illness. Here in the Western world,
even with advances in therapy, the AIDS virus has continued to baffle
scientists and clinicians at all levels. The government should encourage
all state governments to promote and help educate the public.
Dr.S.Srinivasan ,New York.
Dear Sir,
You have given an excellent coverage on the Punjab news. Well done. We
are always looking for more coverage on Punjab.
Sharnjit Gill

Dear Sir,
The graffiti section is really interesting. The last paragraph in the
previous article (the one on Australia) is extremely interesting . Looking
forward to reading more about the never ending journey. Keep up the good
work.

Dear Sir,
I want to let you know that the Indian Express web site is one of the
best ones I have come across and even though I live abroad, I can still
get glimpses of the happenings in my country!
Sateesh Pimparkar, Sydney, Australia.
Dear Sir,
I tried to test the IE Poll System by voting twice. It did not permit
me. Thanks for this feature. Now I can safely rely on the poll results
as a reflection of the opinion of Internet Indians.
Mukund Kute, USA.
Dear Sir,
I have been an avid reader of your newspaper for the past many years,
and I wish to compliment you for bringing out fresh news items everyday.
Vishal Mani.
Dear Sir,
Your web pages are excellent and a very satisfying source of news and
stories about India to people like us living far away from home. We used
to use Times of India pages, but it has become very difficult to access
those pages for news due to poor design and stress on sideshow rather
than on the meaty issues. You are doing very well. Please keep up the
good work.
Dr Bhupinder Singh, South Australia.
Dear Sir,
I grew up used to the smell of the ink from the pages of the Indian Express,
watching it's transition to the new avatar a few years ago and the savvy
of it's regional Newslines. So when I moved Down Under I suffered "withdrawal
symptoms" until this web page was discovered. I am happy and find the
web site updated regularly though I still do miss the regional coverage
and have to see The Tribune, but their updates are very poor.
Manner Kohl, Australia.
Dear Sir,
I really appreciate your work and interest towards satisfying your readers.
I used to go to other sites for cricket info, but they are slow. Now it
is easy to see the news getting updated.
Karthik Jeevanandam.
Criticism
Hi,
I read your article "Alone against Islamic terror" and I agree wholeheartedly
with you there but I think the fault lies partially with us. It is all
a matter of perception.
People will think what you tell them to think. People talk about Hindu
fanatics destroying a Muslim mosque because that is all the hear about.
They have never heard about the Hindu temples razed by Muslims in Kashmir.
They hear about the human rights violation against the Kashmiri but they
never hear about the plight of the killed, tortured and displaced Kashmiri
pundits. And we cannot just blame the foreign media for that. I live in
the United States and read your newspaper everyday and in the past two
years I have never seen a story on Kashmiri pundits. Other people can
give only so much importance to our issues as we do.
During the Kargil war we were able to create a positive impression on
the world because that is how the media - first Indian and then foreign
portrayed it. But look at the Orissa cyclone disaster now. 10,000 people
died in. Do you see the same kind of world support and help as Turkey
got during the earthquake? I haven't even seen a fund for them at your
site. Why? Are Indian people less worthy of our neighbors help or are
we too proud to take any. I think a lot of unnecessary lives were lost
when we were unable to reach people in time and maybe more and better
trained people who have experience in this kind of work would have saved
some lives. Army cannot be jack of all trades and do everything from internal
security to rescue to fighting the enemy but that is another story altogether.
I like Hinduism being a passive and tolerant religion but this is the
age of publicity and PR and if we don't highlight or problems and achievements
then no one else will. Maybe the foreign media still won't but that is
another philosophy behind "karma" - karma kar phal ki chinta mat kar".
We must do our part before we point fingers at other.

Dear Feedback Editor,
Mr. Ali in "Who Was Gandhi?" under Ali's notes in the 15th October issue
of Screen says, among other things, " ... the millennium about to mingle
with the dust of the past ... "
No, the millennium is NOT about to mingle with the dust of the past. Why
is everyone in such a hurry to enter into the new millennium that is going
to begin in a little more than a year from now? The new millennium is
to begin on 1st January 2001, and not on 1st January 2000.
The current millennium ends on 31st December, 2000, and not on 31st
December, 1999. This is matter of simple arithmetic. The thousand-year-period
that began in the year 1 A.D. is coming to a close with the end of the
year 2000, and NOT with the end of the year 1999.
Please take note, Mr. Ali. Thank you.
Surendra Bhimani Jersey City, New Jersey, U.S.A.
Dear Sir,
Your periodical unnecessarily sensationalizes the issues.
I regularly read the front page of the online version of every major national
daily and your newspaper seems to be quite off track from the rest. Particularly
on issues related to the common man, if you do not think it is your duty
to assuage the already-much-exploited common man by your reviews and articles
then I also do not think it is your right to sensationalize the issues
to create more panic and anxiety to the poor man. Put tersely, anything
other than fact reporting needs to be constructive!
Navin Aswal, Minneapolis, MN, USA.
Sir,
Your reporting of the hijacking is simply disgusting and out right stupid.
Without knowing the full facts you are blaming the goverment. Sir, your
intellegent readers want to know, what are your hidden agenda? To defame
the goverment without due process? In this situation the least that was
expected from your paper was to stand behind the peoples goverment of
India as one solid pillar and then at a later time get into the blaming
game. I am sad to say that you have done a very poor job. Dont you have
the good sense that we should stand united against the enemy.
