Govt mulls ordinance route to amend TRAI Act
The Government may consider using the ordinance route for amending the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Act. Telecom companies have made written submissions to the sub-group on amending the TRAI Act asking them to give adjudicatory powers to the TRAI even in cases where disputes are between the Government (read Department of Telecommunications or DoT) and private operators. The industry has also demanded that the TRAI be given powers to enforce the awards announced by them.

Giving a hot chase to Mahindra & Mahindra, Japan-based Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) launched its maiden offering for India - multi-purpose vehicle `Qualis' - with a base model price tag of over Rs 4.5 lakh.
